In January 1990, at seventeen, Avinash Kaul was forced to leave Srinagar with his family, carrying whatever they could. In Jammu he studied in a makeshift government school housed in tents. The Next Mountain is his own account of how he got from there, by way of a summer internship that paid ₹100 a day, to sixteen years as a CEO.
It's part memoir and part field guide. Alongside the story are the principles he worked out on the way up, written for readers on a climb of their own.
